The seven major lines on your palm.
Classical Hast Rekha identifies seven primary lines, each ruled by a different energy. What each line’s length, depth, breaks, and forks reveal about your life.
Life Line
Jeevan RekhaCurves around the thumb, from between thumb and index finger down to the wrist. Reflects vitality, health, and major life events. Contrary to myth, its length doesn’t predict lifespan — it shows the quality of your life’s energy.
Head Line
Mastishk RekhaRuns horizontally across the middle of the palm. Represents intellect, decision-making style, and mental approach to problems. One of the most analytically rich lines.
Heart Line
Hriday RekhaUpper horizontal line, below the fingers. Reflects emotional nature, relationships, and matters of the heart. Both romantic and broader emotional patterns.
Fate Line
Bhagya RekhaVertical line running from wrist upward toward middle finger. Reflects career path, life direction, and external influences. Not everyone has this line — its absence isn’t a bad sign.
Sun Line
Surya RekhaVertical line running up toward the ring finger. Represents fame, success, creativity, and public recognition. Often called the “Apollo line” in Western palmistry.
Marriage Line
Vivah RekhaShort horizontal lines on the edge of the palm, below the little finger. Indicate significant relationships, commitments, and marriage timing. Multiple lines don’t necessarily mean multiple marriages.
Health Line
Swasthya RekhaDiagonal line from below pinky finger toward the base of thumb. Reflects overall health constitution and specific organ health. Absence is auspicious — means no significant health concerns.
Girdle of Venus
Shukra MandalCurved line above the heart line, encircling the mounts of Jupiter and Saturn. Indicates emotional sensitivity, artistic nature, and heightened intuition. Often found in creative and empathic individuals.
Bracelets (Rascette)
Manibandh RekhaHorizontal lines on the wrist, below the palm. Classical texts say each bracelet represents 25-30 years of life. Clear, unbroken bracelets indicate good health, wealth, and long life.
Nine mounts — where the planets live.
Mounts are the raised, fleshy areas on your palm. Each is ruled by a classical planet and reveals different personality traits. Developed mounts indicate strength in that area; flat mounts suggest the trait needs cultivation.
Jupiter Mount
Ambition, leadership, spiritual wisdom. Well-developed: natural leader, confident, ethical.
Saturn Mount
Discipline, responsibility, fate. Well-developed: patient, structured, success through effort.
Sun Mount (Apollo)
Creativity, fame, artistic talent. Well-developed: charismatic, creative, public recognition.
Mercury Mount
Communication, business, wit. Well-developed: eloquent, business-savvy, quick-thinking.
Venus Mount
Love, beauty, passion. Well-developed: affectionate, sensual, artistic appreciation.
Moon Mount (Luna)
Imagination, intuition, emotions. Well-developed: creative, dreamy, psychic sensitivity.
Mars Positive
Courage, active energy. Well-developed: brave, assertive, physical strength.
Mars Negative
Self-control, endurance, resistance. Well-developed: resilient, composed under pressure.
Plain of Mars
Overall courage and disposition. Well-developed: balanced, fair, mentally steady.
Your hand’s shape tells a story too.
Classical palmistry classifies hands into four elemental types — Earth, Air, Fire, and Water. Each shape indicates a core personality archetype that provides context for all other line readings.
Square Hand
Practical, grounded, reliable. Excellent at manual skills, engineering, construction, farming. Trustworthy and methodical.
Square + Long Fingers
Analytical, communicative, intellectual. Thrive in writing, teaching, tech, research. Need mental stimulation constantly.
Long Palm, Short Fingers
Energetic, passionate, action-oriented. Excel in sales, sports, entrepreneurship, leadership. Quick decisions, bold moves.
Long Palm, Long Fingers
Intuitive, creative, emotional. Shine in arts, healing, counseling, spirituality. Deeply empathetic but need emotional care.

Air-type hand with strong Mercury dominance
Your Air-element hand reveals a naturally analytical and communicative personality. The prominent Mercury mount strengthens this further — indicating excellence in business, negotiation, or knowledge-based work. Your birth hand and current hand show similar patterns, suggesting you’re living aligned with your natural inclinations.
Deep and clear — excellent vitality
Your life line is deep, well-defined, and curves broadly, indicating strong physical constitution and enthusiasm for life. A small break near age 35-40 suggests a significant career or life transition around that time — not health-related, but transformational.
Long with a slight fork at the end
Your long head line indicates deep analytical thinking and patience. The slight fork at the end shows a balance between logic and creativity — suggesting suitability for work combining technical and creative elements (design, architecture, technology-driven creative fields).
Expressive emotional nature
Curved heart line shows you’re emotionally expressive and affectionate. Two clear, long marriage lines are visible — this typically indicates one major deep relationship preceded by a significant earlier connection (not necessarily both marriages). The timing suggests the major one around age 28-32.
Unconventional path with later recognition
Your fate line starts from the wrist and shows some wavering before becoming stronger mid-palm — suggesting early career exploration followed by clear focus in your late 20s. A developing sun line (visible but still forming) indicates recognition and success arriving especially after age 35, likely in a field you establish yourself — not employment-based.

About Hast Rekha.
The questions people most often ask before their first palm reading. Full list in FAQ hub.
Does a short life line mean a short life?
No. This is the most common myth about palmistry. The life line’s length does not predict lifespan. What it reflects is:
- Your vital energy and constitution
- Periods of high or low vitality throughout life
- Major life transitions or events
- Your relationship with physical and emotional energy
A short but deep life line often indicates intense, focused vitality. Many people with long, healthy lives have short life lines. Classical palmists have emphasized this for centuries.
Why read both palms? Which one matters?
Both matter — they reveal different things:
- Non-dominant hand (passive): Shows what you were born with — inherent tendencies, karmic blueprint, family-line patterns.
- Dominant hand (active): Shows what you’ve shaped through choices, actions, environment — your current reality and trajectory.
When both hands show similar patterns, you’re living aligned with your birth potential. When they differ significantly, there’s a story — either growth, karma working itself out, or a mismatch to be addressed. A good palmist reads both together.
How do I take a good palm photo for upload?
Follow these steps for clear palm photos:
- Natural daylight is best — avoid shadows or flash
- Keep palm flat and fully open, fingers relaxed (not spread wide, not curled)
- Photo should show the whole palm including fingers
- Focus must be sharp — fine lines should be visible
- Clean palm (wash before, don’t use lotion)
- Take 2 photos per hand — one of the whole palm, one close-up of mounts
The app guides you through each shot with on-screen framing.
Do palm lines change over time?
Yes, they do. This is one of palmistry’s most fascinating aspects. Major lines (life, head, heart) change slowly — measured in years — but minor lines can appear, deepen, or fade within months.
Factors that change palm lines:
- Major life decisions and directions
- Persistent habits (mental or physical)
- Emotional shifts (a long-held grief line can fade after healing)
- New goals pursued with commitment
- Health changes
This means palm reading isn’t deterministic — what your palm shows today reflects your current trajectory, which your choices actively shape.
Can palmistry predict marriage timing?
Classical Hast Rekha does attempt to estimate marriage timing based on the position of marriage lines (short horizontal lines below the pinky). The space between the heart line and base of the pinky represents youth to old age.
Limitations:
- Timing through palmistry is approximate — usually within a 3-5 year window, not specific years
- Combines better with your Kundli for precision — the 7th house in your chart adds detail
- Works better for indicating likelihood of a major relationship than exact date
For marriage timing specifically, we recommend getting both palmistry and Kundli analysis done — they complement each other well.
Is palmistry scientifically accepted?
Palmistry is not recognized as a Western science — no peer-reviewed studies validate its predictive claims.
That said:
- It’s a 3,000+ year old system with consistent internal logic across cultures (Indian, Chinese, Greek, Egyptian traditions)
- Modern dermatoglyphics (the scientific study of finger & palm prints) has found some correlations between palm patterns and genetic conditions
- Classical practitioners see it as a symbolic framework for self-understanding, not strict prediction
We present palmistry as a classical tool for reflection and guidance, grounded in tradition — not a scientific prediction system.
Will my palm photos be kept private?
